Star Wars Clone Wars: Republic Heroes Preview
Star Wars Clone Wars: Republic Heroes is the latest Star Wars video game for the Wii. This particular game is based on the hugely popular Clone Wars cartoon series, and features a number of well known characters from the show. 
For fans of the Clone Wars cartoon series, the game contains a whole new story that takes place between series 1 and series 2 of the television show. There have been many attempts to adapt popular box-office movies and television shows for video games, and despite some high profile disasters, the Star Wars video games have actually been pretty decent. For Clone Wars Republic Heroes, the game publishers have been given access to the TV show's script writers and creative animations. This promises to give gamers an experience that's close to the original show.
Republic Heroes is a third-person shooter with the choice to play as either a Jedi Knight or as a Clone. You'll be able to play as any one of eight Jedi Knights, including Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Mace Windu, and Kit Fisto. You'll also have the choice of playing through the game as one of 10 playable Clones. As a Jedi Knight, combat is very close-quarters using your lightsaber as your main weapon. You'll also get to use your Jedi powers in combat and to solve puzzles. Playing through as a clone will be more of a traditional shooter experience with heavy weapons (like rocket launchers, thermal detonators and jet packs), big gun battles and lots of enemies. The game also incorporates an interesting new mechanic when playing as a Jedi Knight. By jumping onto an enemy droid, you'll be able to take command of it and control its weapons and abilities as if they're your own.
The gameplay in Republic Heroes has been designed for all skill levels. Combat is being mapped to only one button, and I'm sure the Wii remote will be used for lightsaber duels. This should make it both fun and easy for anyone to pick up and play regardless of age and experience. Finally, the game will include multi-player co-op with friends able to jump in and out of the action whenever they're around. Star Wars Clone Wars Republic Heroes is due for release on the 6th October 09 with some great pre-order offers from Best Buy
